Game of Thrones Sweeps Emmys with 16 Nominations

This year is a good year for HBO’s Game of Thrones as it takes 16 Emmy Nominations, second only to “American Horror Story” with 17.

Some of the more renowned nominations are:

  • Outstanding Drama Series
  • Outstanding Supporting Actor – Peter Dinklage as “Tyrion Lannister”Image
  • Outstanding Supporting Actress – Emilia Clarke as “Daenerys Targaryen”
  • Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series – D&D for Episode 9 “The Rains of Castamere
  • Guest actress Diana Rigg as “Lady Olenna Tyrell
  • Art Direction, single camera – for “Valar Dohaeris, Kissed by Fire”
  • Oustanding Casting for a Drama
  • Cinematography, single camerafor “Mhysa”
  • Costumes – for “Walk of Punishment”
  • Editing, single camera – for “The Rains of Castamere”Image
  • Hairstyling, single camera –  for “Second Sons”
  • Makeup, single camera, non-prosthetic

This is a huge step for the show as this is the most nominations they have gotten for any Awards ceremony. It will be interesting to see how these pan out at the Awards Ceremony on September 22nd.
