Earlier this week George R.R Martin confirmed on his livejournal “Not a blog” that Roger Ashton-Griffiths has been cast as “Mace Tyrell” in the upcoming season of a Game of Thrones.
Mace Tyrell is the Lord of Highgarden and Warden of the South. He is father to “Loras Tyrell” and “Margaery Tyrell” and is the one of the most rich and powerful families, second only to House Lannister.
Roger has been in various TV Shows and films including “Gangs of New York“, “Torchwood” and “The Tudors” and is playing “Alfred Hitchcock”, in upcoming film “Grace of Monaco”
In an interview with Icelandic News website Visir, Chris Newman talks about how he is filming a scene where the way up to a castle has to have a certain “impassable look to it”.
He talks about how he films the interior of this castle in their Belfast studios, but for the exterior of the castle, they needed to make it give the idea of “an impregnable way in”
He also mentions that Maisie Williams (Arya Stark) and Rory McCann (The Hound) are there today and this is part of their story
I think we all know what “Impregnable castle” he is talking about. It will be interesting to see where the show writers are going to go with The Hound and Aryas’ story line in the show.

An Icelandic news website, Visir, reported that Game of Thrones was shooting today at Þingvellir, Iceland.
Þingvellir is one of the three known locations at which Game of thrones is filming in Iceland. Other known locations are Þjórsárdalur and Hengilsvæðið. They also published some set photo’s as you can see below:
This is the first of hopefully many set pictures we will see upcoming to Season 4 next April!
Today, Entertainment Weekly has reported that Indira Varma is going to play the part Ellaria sand in the upcoming season of Game of thrones. Ellaria Sand is the Paramour of Prince Oberyn Martell and the mother of the four youngest Sand Snakes.
Indira should be familiar to those watching Game of thrones as she played the part of Niobe in HBO’s “Rome“. She is one of three “Rome” actors to join the cast as Ciarán Hinds (Mance Rayder) and Tobias Menzies (Edmure Tully) joined in the previous season.
Indira has also appeared in other TV shows of note including Bones, Luther and Human Target.
Shooting began yesterday for the Game of Thrones cast in Iceland according to Icelandic news sources.
According to The Morning Paper, the show production team was spotted in the region with different animals in Nesjavellir, Iceland. Nesjavellir is the location of one of the biggest Geo-thermal Power Stations in Iceland.
Another report from The Morning Paper, says that filming in Iceland is expected to be finished up on August 1st.
We also have two actress’s “Maisie Williams” (Arya Stark) and “Gwendoline Christie” (Brienne of Tarth) confirmed to be filming in Reykjavik
Last Saturday, at SDCC, Richard Madden was the centerpiece of a panel called “Conversations for a Cause”.
It was moderated by Zachary Levi who is an american actor and singer and will be taken part in the upcoming film, “Thor – Dark World”.
There was also a special appearance by Matt Smith and Jenna-Louise Coleman of Doctor Who fame.
Week 2 of fan-art, I picked this picture as I was perusing around for pictures of Sansa for my upcoming essay (Stay tuned for that!) and this one struck me. It is truly very beautiful!
Here is a video of the panel for Game of Thrones at SDCC. My favourite parts I have to say is when Mamoa gatecrashes the panel and Michelle Fairley’s heartwarming description of the Red Wedding.
In an interview with the Hollywood Reporter at Comic-Con, Mark Gatiss talks about his latest role in Game of thrones.
